Diderot is one of my favorite writers, and I’ve long enjoyed Le Neveu de Rameau. So, I was delighted to find a monograph on Jean François Rameau (by André Magnan), and particularly intrigued to learn that two melodies by that curious nephew had survived. I harmonized them, and made a piano piece from the result; here’s how it begins.

WOW! Diderot’s Nephew! Would love to listen to this songs. I thought his music was lost.

Apparently, only these two tunes survived. He also wrote a long poem, which is quite odd…

Would it be possible to record the tunes and to load them up? This music needs a reanimation… This would be gourgeous! Searched for the poem, but I couldn’t find it online. Any idea where to get it?

Well, I’ll have to record this piece sometime. Mind you, my harmonization is not historical… The originals are just unaccompanied tunes, apparently from operettas.
